The driving instructor Test comes in three parts:-
Part 1.
1) IS A TWO PART TEST that consists of 100 multiple choice questions based on the Highway Code, general road safety, driving techniques and the theory of instructing a pupil. It lasts about 90 minutes and requires a pass mark of 85 out of 100 questions.
2) IS A HAZARD PERCEPTION TEST with a pass mark of 57% or more.
Part 2.
THE HIGH STANDARD DRIVING TEST THIS TEST is conducted by DTp supervising examiners and measures your ability to drive to a high standard, includes the expert use of controls, correct road procedure, sound judgement of distance, speed & timing, anticipation and consideration of other road users. This test lasts for 60 minutes a maximum of 6 MINOR faults are allowed.
Part 3.
TEST OF INSTRUCTIONAL ABILITY Conducted by DTp supervising examiners and lasts for one hour. The examiner will assume the identity of a novice driver and asks you to explain a particular subject to them. After approximately 30 minutes the scenario is stopped and the examiner assumes the identity of a more experienced learner. Once again you will give you a topic to "teach them"ÂÂ.
